In order to be considered “Certifed Green,” The Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program requres businesses to come into compliance with a fifteen page document divided into seven sections of environmental health:

Pollution Prevention
Chemical Safety
Energy Conservation
Solid Waste Reduction
Water Conservation
Compliance Checks
Employee Awareness and Training

A business, after meeting or exceeding all the standards dictated by all seven sections, must then submit to yearly audits of environmental health as well as awknowlge that the Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program may perform
suprise checks of compliance at any time.

In November of 2006, Martella Printing was recognized by BFI Waste Services with the CURBEE Award for an outstanding commitment to recycling.
